Further Information

Borana is a stunning lodge set on a ridge overlooking the Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy. Guests stay in one of just six stone and thatch luxury ensuite cottages, which are dotted along the hill each with fantastic, panoramic, far-reaching views of Mount Kenya across the Lewa Plains to the Ngare Ndare Forest. Cottages are well sited to give guests great privacy, each totally secluded from the neighbouring cottage.

Borana lodge overlooks a dam which fills with the floodwater flowing off the surrounding hills. It is the local watering hole for all the wildlife in the area so there is constant activity for the guests to watch. There is also a game blind built right on the edge of the dam so that visitors can go down and see the activity at close range: elephants swimming is a favourite. Food is freshly prepared in the kitchen; vegetables and farm produce from the farm, freshly squeezed juice from the lodge orchard and wines from around the world.

The lodge is a working cattle ranch where game and cattle graze side by side. It is also the home to the Dyer family who have lived here for 75 years. Activities include riding, game viewing, walks and bike rides on the ranch as well as trips to Lewa Conservancy, which is teeming with masses of game including 64 black and white rhino. There is a pool to relax by when not exploring the area.
