Further Information

Manda Bay is a private island within the Lamu Archipelago and not far from the island of Lamu. It has ten lovely, private bandas set right on the beach, a few yards from the lapping waves of high tide. Built from local materials and adorned with a tasteful mix of local furnishings, your room also has an ensuite bathroom. The cuisine is laden with bounteous, fresh seafood. Your hosts are Caragh and Andy Roberts, who own the lodge.

Here, you can spend the days relaxing on the private beach, which is exclusive for guests of the Roberts. You may like to go for a day trip into the surreal bustle of Lamu town, caught in a Swahili time warp where donkeys are the only vehicles allowed through its narrow streets.

Why?

  • The dhow is superb - especially on an overnight stay
  • Wonderful, beautiful beach
  • Very quiet & relaxing setting
  • Good watersports
  • New swimming pool
Why Not?
  • Shared dining tables
  • May be too remote for some people
  • Slightly elitist
