Ol Donyo Wuas is an absolutely wonderful lodge situated in the magnificent and completely unspoilt surroundings of the stunning Chyulu Hills. Far from the beaten track, this is a fabulously remote and private spot and guests can enjoy this sensational region without seeing any other game-viewing vehicles. Ol Donyo Wuas is owned by Richard and Tara Bonham, who work closely with the local Maasai community running the lodge to an extremely high standard. The lodge consists of seven wooden ensuite cottages built from local materials and situated in the bush at the foothills of the Chyulu Range, each overlooking Kilimanjaro and the rolling plains in front of the mountain just 35 miles away. The food is delicious and meals are served in the lovely main building, where a huge wood fire burns at night. In front of this central area is a swimming pool with a waterhole below, where animals come to drink. Walking safaris, mountain hiking, horse riding and game drives are all on offer in this interesting region where game wanders freely. Guests also experience cultural exposure to traditional Maasai customs.
