Further Information

The North Skeleton Coast is a remote and stunning region almost totally untouched by man. This area is incredibly beautiful, rugged and harsh - and an amazing experience for those wishing to come into contact with a true wilderness. In amongst the dunes of the starkly beautiful coast is the tiny Skeleton Coast Camp, which has just six twin ensuite tents. Each of the tents is large and spacious with an ensuite bathroom. Guests dine under the branches of a wonderful old Leadwood tree - a lovely experience at night when the table is candlelit and the stars are out.

The camp is actually situated within a private concession area on an island in the middle of the dry Khumib River about 12 miles inland from the coast. Activities are mainly done in closed four wheel drive vehicles with a roof hatch. There are also plenty of opportunities for walks with a picnic lunch.

Why?

  • The only camp on The Skeleton Coast
  • Very remote and no chance of seeing other tourists
Why Not?
  • Cost is expensive and minimum stay is three nights
