Further Information
Lunga River Lodge is situated in the northeast of Kafue National Park on the
banks of the Lunga River. It is serviced by its own airstrip, 20 minutes drive
from the camp. It accommodates a maximum of 12 guests in 6 thatched chalets
each perched along the river bank. There is a communal bar area built on a
large platform over the river and a separate open air dining area. It also
has a central lawn area with swimming pool with adjoining steam and massage
room! It is owned and managed by Ed & Rona Smyth, who work hard behind
the scenes to ensure your every need is catered for. The food is excellent
with much of the produce grown in their own kitchen garden. There are plenty
of activities to choose from during your stay. Motor boat trips on the Lunga
River are exceptional for bird watching with five different species of kingfisher
seen on one sundown cruise as well as African finfoot and open-billed stork
to name but a few. It is also possible to explore the river and its many channels
silently in open two-man Canadian canoes. Alternatively, you can go on day
and night game drives and walking safaris.
