Further Information
Nsefu Camp is the third and latest camp of Robin Pope Safaris. Although new
for Robin Pope Safaris, it is the oldest camp in Zambia having originally been
built in 1952 by Norman Carr and is now a national monument. It was completely
rebuilt in 1999 using some of the original foundations and following a similar
design. It is situated on a sweeping bend on the Luangwa River 12km north of
Tena Tena on what must be one of the most beautiful sites in the park.
The accommodation is in thatched rondavels but the originals have been extended
so each has its own balcony with views over the river and ensuite bathrooms.
One criticism is that the rondavels are a little close to each other, but because
of the necessity to rebuild on much of the original site this was something
that could not be avoided. The food and guiding, like all Robin Pope Safaris
operations, are excellent.
