Further Information

Tena Tena lies within a secluded area of the South Luangwa National Park, overlooking a wide sweep of the Luangwa River. It is a small, exclusive, temporary bush camp owned by Robin Pope Safaris that is stripped each year before the rains and completely rebuilt again at the start of each season. To get to Tena Tena it is a game drive northeast from Mfuwe through the park, then a short motor boat trip to cross the Luangwa River, then a short drive to the camp.

It takes a good 3-4 hours but you will see it really is worth the journey when you arrive in this truly remote and beautiful spot. The view from the thatched bar and dining room is quite superb with game and numerous birds within the vicinity of the camp at all times. The camp sleeps 12 people in 6 large walk-in tents, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Both the food and guiding are superb here culminating in what really is a high quality operation.

Why?

  • Beautifully run
  • Set in spectacular area on the river
  • Some of the best guiding in Africa
Why Not?
  • Semi-permenant tented camp with open air bathrooms so may not be for everyone
